I'm excited to introduce my latest creation, Tuck Shop font. The idea of crafting a chalkboard-style font had been lingering in the recesses of my mind for some time.
So, I decided it was high time to put that idea into action. I got myself a real slate chalkboard for a mere £10 – a steal, really.
However, much to my annoyance, it turned out to be too large to fit under my A4 scanner.
Quite the conundrum, I must say. But necessity, they say, is the mother of invention, so I resolved to take photos of my chalk drawings using my trusty digital camera.
Cheap as Chips
To further economize, I procured a pack of chalk for a mere quid at Poundstretchers. I reckon the same would have set me back a pretty penny at the local art supply shop.
With my supplies sorted, I was all set to embark on this creative endeavor.
Chalk on Slate
So, I rolled up my sleeves and got down to work. Initially, my plan was to craft a cursive font that emulated the kind of handwriting your old school teacher might have used.
However, after a few attempts, I had a change of heart. The chalk, coupled with the rough slate surface, simply couldn't capture the level of detail I was after.
Truth be told, it's not the chalk's fault, but rather the slate – a purchase I now rue. I opted for a simpler, more straightforward approach. I drew the letters until my chalkboard was filled, took a snapshot, wiped the slate clean, and started anew.
It didn't take long before I had all the characters I needed.
Tuck Shop font
What's a tuck shop, you ask? Well, its english slag for a shop. It's a tiny haven where you can satisfy your cravings for snacks, drinks, and all sorts of knick-knacks.
Tuck Shop boasts three distinctive styles:
- Regular
- Outline
- Decoration
You can get Tuck Shop font Plus, featuring all three styles, from my shop. The font format is .OTF and includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, punctuation, symbols, as well as support for Western, Central, and South Eastern European characters.
